Raw Wraps are a tortilla/sandwich wrap made out of fresh produce. They are vegan, gluten free, soy free, nut free, wheat free, and allergy friendly. Made in a dedicated gluten free and vegan facility in Florida using produce from local farms when in season. No chance for cross contamination. We only make our products at our facility.
Raw Wraps can be used in a sandwich press with oil on low/medium for crisping, about 10 seconds. Keep an eye on them- they burn easily. Make a quesadilla in a fry pan with oil on low/medium heat. Use as a pizza crust so long as it is a cust-less pizza with no exposed wrap (cover the edges with toppings). As they bake the flavor intensifies and they get crispy. The color will also darken. Use in an enchilada casserole, so long as no part is left exposed. Do not expose to dry heat like toasting, broil or baking. The wraps have very little water content and will burn if exposed to dry heat. They can be frozen formed around a burrito, taken out and microwaved.
Place dry ingredients like lettuce, rice, cheese, grilled veggies first. Layer wet ingredients next. Not all wet ingredients cause them to fall apart. Thick sauces like mayo, hummus, mustard, ranch, etc are fine to be placed first if you plan on eating the wrap soon. For example, if eating tuna, chicken, or egg salads place dry lettuce first then your salad. Hot foods work just as well as cold so long as the hot food is not wet or steaming, let it cool to mouth temperature first. Grilled veggies, no problem, melted cheese, just fine, drippy stir fry not going to work...you get the idea..
The carbohydrates in Raw Wraps are mainly derived from fruits, veggies and fiber. There are two types of carbs; complex and simple. Complex carbs take longer to break down than simple carbs. Raw Wraps contain complex carbs from kale, spinach, onions, apples, quinoa, celery and psyllium husk fiber.
No. The cost of Kosher certification is cost prohibitive for a produce product. In order to obtain Kosher certification a rabbi would have to work for us full time inspecting every washing of each batch of vegetables. We feel the cost of wraps is high enough and did not want to add the additional expense.
Raw Wraps Spinach Soft Taco are paleo. Our regular size kale & spinach wraps are compatible with a paleo or caveman diet depending on which school of thought you belong to. Some do not believe quinoa, although it is a seed, is part of the diet since it is classified as a fake grain. You be the judge.
Raw Wraps are made out of spinach, kale, apples, onions, celery. No cheap ingredients like wheat, corn, soy, tapioca starch or flours. Simply put produce is very expensive and there is over a pound condensed into every bag. We do sell our "seconds" for a fraction of the cost. Check them out in the shop tab.
Since we do not use food coloring the kale wraps come out different colors from green to brown. It depends on the type of kale growing at that time of the year. For example, if you look at lacinto kale it has shades of black & purple. This makes a brown wrap. We work with nature, with the seasons, with the natural pigments in the produce. If your looking for something green for photos or a party try the spinach wraps as the seasonal supply does not vary much, so it's always some shade of green.
The wraps are shelf stable without refrigeration for up to a year. They should not spoil or go bad if shipping is taking longer than expected. They are not like bread getting moldy fast.
Unless you are allergic to kale, spinach, apples, onions, celery, quinoa or psyllium you are in the clear. The wraps are gluten free, soy free, nut free, peanut free, grain free, vegan (no fish/animal flesh/dairy or animal product), dairy free and free of the top food allergens. We only make our product, we don't co-pack or use our equipment to make things for other people so no cross contamination.
I'll give you the Cliff Notes version: We take whole fresh fruit and veggies, wash and clean them in organic veggie wash (no bleach). We then combine them, shape them into circles and air bake for several hours. at low temperatures. It may sound simple but it took us 2 years to figure it out! It's actually very difficult to make a natural product without using industry standard ingredients like fillers, binders, oils, food coloring and preservatives. But hey, we're committed and maybe a little obsessive.
